If your e-filed return is rejected, you'll be able to make any changes related to the Recovery Rebate Credit.
If your e-filed return is accepted, you can't make changes to your original return.

It's possible that the IRS will already have made the correction during processing, and adjusted your refund accordingly. If that's the case, the IRS will send you a notice telling you they've made the correction, and you won't need to amend your original return.

If you should receive the second stimulus as part of your refund then an amendment should be completed and the money repaid.
