How do I reopen my tax return after choosing file by mail and downloading / printing the file? Nothing was sent to the IRS yet, no e-file. I don't want to file a 1040x.

Here's how:

• Sign in.
• Scroll below and find "Add a State"
• Pick up where you left off
• Make your corrections

Any other way? I'm not getting back to my return when I try the above method.

Instead I get:
It looks like your federal return can't be amended right now

This is a nationwide delay for all returns like yours, no matter who's preparing them.
You're going to have to wait until the tax form for amending a return (Form 1040X) is ready for processing.
Form 1040X will be ready on 03/07/2019.
