Another way to get a copy of my w-2. My employer won’t send it

If you cannot obtain the W-2 from your employer, then for a fee you can get a complete copy of a W-2 from the Social Security Administration - https://faq.ssa.gov/en-us/Topic/article/KA-02501

 

You can get a free Wage and Income transcript from the IRS - https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript

Another way to get a copy of my w-2. My employer won’t send it

If the W-2 is not available, here are the steps to take to get your it.

 

  1. Contact your employer  Contact your employer to see if the W-2 has ben sent, and request a duplicate.
  2. Go online, many employers have an online service to provide document like W-2's.
  3. You can try to import it on TurboTax.  How do I import or enter my W-2?
  4. Contact the IRS:  If you could not get it from your employer you can contact the IRS.
    1. You can call toll-free at 1-800-829-1040 or contact a Taxpayer Assistance Center Local IRS Office.
    2. You can request a transcript
    3. You must provide your
      1. name,
      2. address, city and state (including zip code),
      3. Social Security Number,
      4. phone number,
      5. Employer’s name,
      6. address, city and state (including zip code), and
      7. employer's phone number
  5. As a last resort, if you have a pay stub you ban complete a for 4852 Substitute for Form W-2
