Filing an amendment stops the child tax credit payments until the amendment is resolved. If your only reason for filing an amendment was unemployment, then you should not have filed that amendment.
The IRS is very behind and asked that amendments not be filed for the $10,200 unemployment exemption. You will be able to claim the child tax credit on your 2021 tax return next year.
Putting an amended return into the system affects your eligibility for the monthly child tax credit payments. You will be able to get the CTC when you file your 2021 tax return in 2022. The IRS is already issuing extra refunds to people who paid tax on the first $10,200 of unemployment, and did not want you to amend for that. They are issuing those payments without requiring amended returns. Sorry, but it takes them six months or even longer to process an amended return.
