Yes it does. I claimed him as a dependent because I provided over 90% of his living expenses while he was living at home and working very minimally. Can this be corrected without amending both our taxes?
then he is your dependent.... you always have the option of not claiming him (and if you amend then you will owe the $500 tax credit back) HOWEVER, he is required to answer the question CAN someone else claim him. it does not ask DID someone else claim him. He isn't eligible for the stimulus even if you remove him as a dependent.
the real question is what happened in 2020? THAT is what ultimately determines whether is eligible for the stimulus. 2019 doesn't matter anymore - and that is true for both stimulus payments
