I needed to amend my 2021 return for additional income. When I looked at the resultant 1040X I noticed the deduction had also been modified....but I used the standard deduction and made no changes in that area. It looks like the 1040X added back in the charitable amount which was not changed by the amendment and should not have changed.
Below are screen shots of my original 1040 and the amended 1040X showing the 1040X incorrectly adding back in the charitable contribution.

You should not be amending your 2021 return yet. The 1040X will not be ready in TurboTax until March 25th. Additionally, you need to make sure that you do not file an amended return until after your original return has been completely processed and you have either received your refund or received a letter from the IRS telling you that they have adjusted your return.
Well that's nice to know....nothing in the software has stopped me...at least not yet. Of course seeing the problem I never filed. And I have met all your other requirements. I will wait.
Today is March 29th. I am assuming the TurboTax Deluxe software is now capable of amending a 2021 return. I am also assuming my programming has successfully received the latest updates (it says my last update was Tues, March 29th, 2022 8:33am). If so the amendment software is still incorrectly calculating the 1040X form specifically line 2 of Income and Deductions where it is incorrectly pulling the Standard Deduction amount for me as $25100 (married filing jointly) and NOT pulling over the original amount of my Charitable Contribution amount for me of $480 from Form 1040 line 12B. This Charitable Contribution value is unchanged going to my 1040X Amendment but since Turbotax didn't pull it over from original 1040 it is giving me a second income reduction of that amount on my 1040X.
Never mind. Although I believe the transposition of the number from my original return Form 1040 to the 1040X form are incorrect....the number on the 1040X form for the NEW numbers are correct.....therefore the tax calculation for the amended form is also correct, and that is all I care about. Thanks.
