Am I the only one who received a MUCH lower amount than quoted? IRS accepted a return for $913. Then sent just under $200.

ACCEPTED just means IRS has your tax return.

If IRS finds a 'miscalculation' they will correct it.

So they don’t have to tell you about it? If it’s wrong they shouldn’t accept it. I was laid off for a month or so and was counting on that, and can’t claim my unemployed roommate as a dependent just because he doesn’t have health insurance, which he can’t get as he unemployed.

Accepted just means it passed the initial tests (such as SSN). Think of it like a mailed envelope being received (but not opened yet) at the IRS. The IRS can still make adjustments.
