I'm 22 and have never held a job, I'm still living with my parents, and am not under normal circumstances required to file my tax returns. However, I was trying to file tax returns for the first time because I believe I qualify for the 3rd Covid-19 stimulus check / Recovery Rebate Credit. I managed to get through the end of the online 1040 form and file but then it said I have to mail in either my state or federal tax return and can't do them both electronically. Since I started this process am I still legally required to finish the process and mail in the form even though I don't owe any taxes/have a job? I want to forget about the stimulus money but I just wanted to know if there would be any repercussions if I don't finish the process

It depends.
If you have a filing requirement as shown in the link below, you will still need to file your tax returns. If you are below the filing threshold, then you would not have a filing requirement.
As long as you do not send your returns to be filed, you do not need to do anything. The returns would not be sent unless you click File.
I don't earn any income so normally I'm not required to, but I ended up filing anyway to try and see if I qualified for the stimulus check. The status now says I e-filed my 2020 federal tax return and that the state tax return is printed and ready to be mailed. So I'm just wondering what happens if I don't mail it at this point
You are required to have taxable income to e-file a tax return.
If you don't have taxable income you aren't required to file a tax return. If you aren't required to file a return and don't file one, nothing will happen.
If you are a dependent on another return, then they will receive the stimulus check for you.
