You don't need to amend.  That election applies to your business, and there is generally no harm in having that election.  In fact, I generally recommend taking that election.

YOu mean 2017 return? TurboTax for 2018 won't be released until December.
You need to be more specific. There are hundreds of things you could take the DMSE election on. Do you own rental property? Are you self employed? Claiming a Home Office for something? For what specifically is the election? Why do you say it should not be in there?

Thank you for responding and I apologize for my errors.  Of course, I meant 2017.  I am retired but have part-time self-employed business that I operate from my home that I rent.  I do claim office in the home deduction.  I do not have assets that I am depreciating.  I am in my seventies, and after efiling and printing my return I saw the form so I knew I had inadvertently made such an election.  I was worried that I needed to amend my return before it's even been accepted by IRS.  Didn't want the return to kick out because the election form doesn't match anything in the return.  Thank you for answering.

Sounds to me like may need to amend. But do not to "ANYTHING" until after your already e-filed return is processed by the IRS. Now if it's rejected by the IRS then you don't need to amend anything. Just go into the return, make your changes and resubmit.
If your already e-filed return is accepted by the IRS, then you will need to wait until they have processed your return. Your return is not processed until you have received any refund you may be due. Only once it's processed, will you amend your return if necessary. Otherwise, amending beforehand can have the potential to put you in a never ending nightmare with the IRS from which you will never awaken.
Right now (and I mean *RIGHT* *NOW*) if you used the online version of TurboTax, you need to download your .tax2017 file to your computer. You will need it to amend later, if amending is "in fact" deemed necessary. Otherwise, if you used the desktop version of TurboTax, the .tax2017 file is already in your documents/turbotax directory. Make a backup of that file as originally filed, and protect that backup with your life. If you lose it, you're outta luck.

Thank you.  I will try to do all of that.
