Question

Will Intuit correct its error on IL Form 2210 (penalty for underpayment of tax)? Form uses 1/17/2022 as due date for est IL tax

I'm using TurboTax Premier for 2021 tax returns. If you pay IL est. tax on 1/18/2022, Form 2210's calculations show it as being made one day late because the form incorrectly shows a due date of 1/17/2022.

1/17 is a holiday so the 1/18 date is correct.

@GeorgeDenseff

You didn't read my post carefully.  Yes, 1/18/2022 is the correct due date for estimated tax payments (both Illinois and Federal) -- but in TurboTax Premier, IL Form 2210 is incorrect and incorrectly calculates a penalty if one pays the IL estimated tax on 1/18/2022.  The IL Form 2210 in TurboTax Premier shows a due date of 1/17/2022, and thus incorrectly determines that a payment made on 1/18/2022 is one day late and thus gives rise to a penalty.

Intuit needs to correct this!

The IL form 2210 will not be fully functional until 1/27 with the rest  of the IL forms ... you cannot even efile it yet ...  https://care-cdn.prodsupportsite.a.intuit.com/forms-availability/turbotax_il_windows_individual.html

This issue has still not been corrected.  Megapixels18 is correct in all their posts about the incorrect date on line 9a of IL Form 2210. It should be 01/18/22 not 01/17/22 and there is NO WAY to override it.

From the instructions for IL 2210:

Line 9a - For each quarter, enter the date that corresponds with the
15th day of the 4th, 6th, and 9th month of your tax year and the 15th
day of the first month following the end of your tax year. If this date
falls on a weekend or holiday, use the next business day.

01/15/22 was a weekend day, 01/17/22 was a holiday, 01/18/22 was the due date for the 4th quarter installment.

A work around for this issue is to fib and say you made your 4th quarter IL installment on 01/17/22.  Then there will not be a late penalty calculation.  This is not the best solution but TurboTax software development does not seem be in any hurry to correct their error.
