Why would CA state return still show as pending after 2 days?

In past years the CA state return was accepted in minutes, it has now been two days.

I'm closing this thread.
Many transmission hiccups have been resolved.

If your return is still "pending" 48 hours after e-filing, please send me a private message. It's also been reported that the IRS tracking tool is seeing delays.

After following the "rejection due to software error" email instructions from TurboTax, re-filed, CA State was accepted in 3 hours.

I was able to refile after I got the rejection email (itemized deduction software error), now my return is pending AGAIN since a few hours. Hopefully it will be accepted and then approved soon!

Again it is a shame it took emails to the CEO and VP to get this resolved.

I filed Federal and 2 states (DC and VA) tax returns on 16Feb and Federal and VA state returns got accepted a few hrs later but DC return still pending until now (more than 48 hrs). Does anybody have any help?

I'm writing back with an update. Sadly, I still can't file my California return. I thought it was progress when my return was rejected on February 18 (for "software" reasons) after being pending since February 4. But now it says that I can't re-file because one of the forms is not final - Form 568, the LLC form. However, the state lists the form as final.

Last year, TurboTax decided to fold this form into the e-file, although before that it had always been done separately on paper. It didn't work. The only way I was able to proceed was to delete all the California forms and start over, leaving out the 568 form. This year, I'm not allowed to do that deletion because TurboTax shows my CA return as already filed. It is not looking good for this year. I may try to file the state return online directly through the state somehow.

I actually filed with HR block and came across this site looking for answers. My federal was accepted immediately, a week ago, and state is still pending. Well I guess we wait for answers...

This is a very telling piece of data that someone filed with H&R Block and has the same issue as the TT community in that State of CA shows as pending. Two things come to mind, rejection messages are not being transmitted properly back to H&R Block & TT from the FTB and also, it points to last minute changes by the FTB to the electronic forms that neither TT or H&R Block anticipated before letting users submit. Now that H&R Block has same issue, not sure we can finger point at TT. Would be interesting to get more information as to the exact issue between the Tax software providers and the FTB this year.

I checked the FTB CA website and it still shows no return received. Has anyone else had this happen?

Got a message from turbotax after my ca state tax showed pending for nearly a week message read it was there system I needed to resend. currently still shows pending again.

Yesterday, pending 6 days, received a rejection email/text, fixed & transmitted again, accepted 3 hours later and 15 hours from acceptance, the FTB site shows a status of processing. Hopefully you will receive the "Accepted" email/text within 4 hours of resending the return. I think TT has the majority of issues fixed as of last evening.

I submitted my taxes on Saturday, 1/13. Federal return was accepted within an hour. The CA state return has been pending since then. I'm seeing others in this discussion who are starting to hear back and be able to resubmit, so I'm hopeful I'll get some kind of word soon. BTW, don't bother with the online chat for FTB; no help. I did get through to someone at FTB and they said they're aware of a problem with the major tax software (TurboTax, H&R Block) and that it's stuck in those systems and not even sent out yet to the state. They said to wait three weeks and then if there's no progress, to print and mail it to them. I really really hope that won't be the case.
