"it was accepted on 22nd of June 2022"

Did you get an email with the acceptance notice?  Or did you see the status previously at the Tax Home of your Online account?  Or both?

"Why can't I see the status of my refund like I never filed."

Can't see the status where???   We don't know what you are looking at.   Are you logging into your Online account, and at the Tax Home do you see no evidence of the online 2021 return you filed, and does it act like it wants you to start a new 2021 return?   If that's the case, then you likely have multiple accounts and signed into the wrong one.  I'll tell you below how to check.

Or are you referring to the refund status at the IRS "Where's My Refund" tool?

In this answer I'll start by addressing the first possibility--that you are looking at the Tax Home of your Online account.   I'll follow it with another answer that addresses the IRS "Where's My Refund" tool in case that is what you are looking at.

Many people end up with multiple accounts without realizing it.   Here's how to troubleshoot for multiple accounts (User IDs) :

If you log into your Online account, and there is no evidence of the online 2021 return you filed, and it's acting like it wants you to start one, then you likely have multiple accounts and signed into the wrong one.  You can have up to 5 accounts that use the same email address for notification purposes.  A User ID may be an email address, but it doesn't have to be.  It might be only part of an email address, or it can be anything at all.

To get a list of your User IDs, reset password, and recover account access, etc., you can use the tool at the link below.  When using the Account Recovery tool, try using your phone number first-- if you can still access it.   After that, if necessary, then run the tool on your email address(es) you can access.

NOTE: Before running the account recovery tool below, log out of all Intuit accounts including this user forum, or you might end up in a loop.  Then clear your browser Internet cache, close your browser, then reopen it, and go to the link below.  You may wish to copy this link so you can paste it into the new browser session.

If still no luck after running that on your phone number you can still access and email address(es) that you can access,  here's another method:

Go back to the tool again, but this time leave the data field blank, scroll down a bit, then choose the small blue link that says "Try something else", and it will look you up by SSN and other parameters.

If that's not what your question refers to, and if you are instead asking about the IRS "Where's My Refund" tool, here are some tips when using that tool:

https://www.irs.gov/Refunds

  • Be sure you have waited at least 24 hours after acceptance before using the IRS WMR tool.  (You're obviously past that time frame.)
  • Be sure you enter the correct SSN and filing status.
  • Be sure you are using only the Federal refund amount.   Do not include any state refund or any total refund or net refund (Fed and State) that TurboTax may have provided on a summary screen.
  • Also be sure you are using the Federal amount before any TurboTax fees are taken out (if you chose that option.)
  • Look at your actual Federal return to get the Federal refund amount, i.e., your Form 1040, Line 35a.
  • You can also try phoning the IRS refund hotline.  I've seen it work for some users when the WMR tool didn't.  800-829-1954

@mcmi320403 - give it a few weeks; the IRS is woefully backlogged and 'accept' simply means the iRS acknowledged they have it - sorta like the mail room signing for it in the physical world.  But be patient!

here is what the IRS website states:

How long you may have to wait: The IRS understands the importance of timely processing of tax returns and refund issuance. We have processed all error free returns received prior to October 2021 and continue to work the returns that need to be manually reviewed due to errors.  We are continuing to reroute tax returns and taxpayer correspondence from locations that are behind to locations where more staff is available, and we are taking other actions to minimize any delays. Tax returns are opened and processed in the order received. As the return is processed, whether it was filed electronically or on paper, it may be delayed because it has a mistake including errors concerning the Recovery Rebate Credit and the Child Tax Credit, is missing information, or there is suspected identity theft or fraud. If we can fix it without contacting you, we will. If we need more information or need you to verify that it was you who sent the tax return, we will write you a letter. The resolution of these issues could take 90 to 120 days depending on how quickly and accurately you respond, and the ability of IRS staff trained and working under social distancing requirements to complete the processing of your return.

What you should do: In most instances, no further action is needed but you may check Where’s My Refund? or you can view your account. If you filed electronically and received an acknowledgement, you do not need to take any further action other than promptly responding to any requests for information. If you filed on paper, check Where’s My Refund? If it tells you we have received your return or are processing or reviewing it, we are processing your return, but it may be under review. If you filed before October 2021 and Where’s My Refund? does not have any information, your return has been opened but work on it has not begun. We’re working hard to get through the carryover inventory. Please don’t file a second tax return or contact the IRS about the status of your return.
