When I download my return from TurboTax, it shows form 8396, however when I talk to the IRS, they say there is no 8396 with my return. Anyone know a way to address this?

So, there is basically a ‘he-said-she-said issue and I cannot get TurboTax to respond to me! Can anyone help>

That is an unusual credit to have ... look at the Sch 3 line 6 ... do you have an amount on that line? Did you have the proper paperwork to claim that credit ?

Thanks for the reply! Yes - I have an FHA loan that allows me to reclaim 20% of all interest paid on my mortgage. And yes.. the return I download from TT has it in there, but the IRS assured me that it is not in the return they received… after lots of arguing!

I’ve claimed this ‘rebate’ since 2015, and it is what kept me from refinancing with the crazy low rates last year.
