The IRS says my 2019 taxes were not filed but I filed them through TurboTax and they were accepted. What can I do?

To access your TurboTax 2019 income tax return, see How do I access a prior year return?

To find out the status of your 2019 income tax return, contact the IRS at 1-800-829-1040. You may also try and see if your 2019 income tax return is in your IRS transcripts. If it is, you can see if your return was changed in any way by the IRS.

  • A transcript contains most line items from your return and can be used if you need last year's AGI or other numbers from a previously-filed return.
  • Here's what a transcript looks like.
  • To order, go to the IRS Get Transcript page and choose an option: online (same-day) or by mail (5–10 days).

If the IRS has no record of it, you'll need to mail in your 2019 income tax return.
