Should I file an amended return for 2016 which did not contain amount reported on form SSA-1099?

The amount was on the 2014, 2015 and is on 2017 returns

It depends.  You can add that to your return like you are going to amend it and see if your tax is changed (refund or balance due on the amendment). If you find that there is no change you can stop and you don't have to mail it in.

The instructions below will explain how to amend your prior year return.  Don't do anything until you read all the information so that your original figures remain intact for the amendment just in case you need to mail it in. Check your state return as well by choosing to amend that. Click the blue hyperlinks, and select the year you want to amend (2016).
