Solved

Recently received an email saying I would debited a balance to my account and my tax refund has been delayed. How so after I chose for it to be taken out of my refund?

Are the fees supposed to come out of your refund?

If the IRS is taking too long to send your refund you still have to pay the fees in time.

See What if the IRS reduces your refund or delays it.

Then when the IRS does send your refund they won't take the fees out again.

And, Why you got charged,

You should have received about 4 emails asking for the fees.  If you don't pay they will debit your account.  You had to agree to it.

Makes sense and this is the first time I received the email…. I had this same issue past 2yrs with TurboTax I would file early and receive my refund 2-3 months later. Thanks for the tip.

Next year try to pay the fees upfront with a credit card and you will also avoid the Extra $40 Refund Processing Service charge (45 in California).
