My turbotax federal return status says it's accepted 3 weeks ago, but my IRS refund status says it's not available & has for a couple days. Why is there no refund status?

If prepared online, be sure your return was successfully filed. Does the Tax Home of your Online TurboTax account confirm that the efiled return was accepted?

Did the IRS tool previously recognize your information and provided you a refund status? And then a couple days ago has the tool switched to using the actual words "not available" or "unavailable?"

Be sure you enter the correct tax year, correct SSN, filing status, and the amount from your Federal Form 1040, Line 35a.

You can also try the IRS Refund Hotline: 800-829-1954

If it does actually say the status is "not available" (but previously showed the status), the IRS "may" be preparing to send you a letter for more info. Commonly it may ask you to identify that it was you that filed the return, but we have no way in a user forum to know what all the IRS is doing. If you wish, you can phone them and ask:

On Turbo tax, my status shows as accepted.

The IRS tool has never shown annoying other than that the status is not available. I waited the 21 days that it stated that it typically takes to get the refund, but it's still that same status.

All the info I've been entering each time is the correct info for the status, which is why I'm confused as to why it's not showing anything.

@Flauteest19 Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.
