Mistake on federal and state filing

okay so I filed my federal with turbo tax and filed my California return on the ftb site for the state. Well my state got approved and my federal got  rejected due to some issues with the 1099 misc form for the california middle class tax refund payment we received . Now im really worried because just a day ago i received another w2 and a 1099 misc form to file for a class action settlement. However my state already issued refund and i have to refile my federal until tomorrow. Do i add my w2 and 1099 when i refile with federal and then amend my state later or should i submit the same info i originally did and amend both later. im confused and i really dont know what to do because if i add the extra w2 and 1099 to federal when i refile it will be different than what i submitted originally with the state. Any info would help me. It was only a$20 check and the difference is that they each would owe me $1 more.

Yes. You can make changes and refile a rejected Federal return without going through the amendment process because the IRS has not accepted your return.

It’s your choice how to proceed.

If you file federal without the new W-2 and 1099 it will be easier to amend your California return using TurboTax since the state return will look like the state return you filed with FTB. However, since you filed through FTB, you’ll have to pay for the California TurboTax program.

If you file federal with the new W-2 and 1099, you won’t have to amend federal. It’s a bit more complicated to amend California using TurboTax. You’ll have to change California back to your original numbers.

Or you can amend your California return outside TurboTax and not pay for the California program.

Thank you I just didnt want to pay the state filing fee with turbo tax but it looks like i will have to now anyways. How will i amend my california return on turbo tax if i efiled my state through the FTB site? Can i efile an amended state return on turbo tax if i filed on FTB? also will it be better to refile my federal without the 2 extra forms just so both returns can be the same for as what  i filed with California and then amend both after. Or should i just refile federal  with the added forms and just amend my state after? i just dont want it to be audited or red flagged when i refile. California has already issued my refund so either way i have to amend with them now even though they will owe me $1.
