IRS Form 1040X, Amended U.S. Individual Income Tax Return is estimated to be available on 02/22/19

The tax return should not be amended until the tax refund has been received from the IRS.

Thanks! In your response above do you mean that TT plans to have the 1040X for 2018 available about Feb 22? It is already available for download from IRS, but I want to amend via TT.

I’ve already filled my taxes and i can’t amend it till the 22nd of feb. I’m expected to get my return the 19th can i still amend it or is it to late ?

You have 3 years from the original due date of the return to file an amended tax return for a tax refund.

For tax year 2019 you can file an amended return for a tax refund at any time up through April 15, 2023.

The 2019 federal amended tax return is scheduled to be available on 02/26/2020, subject to change.

An amended tax return, Form 1040X, can only be printed, signed, dated and mailed by you to the IRS, it cannot be e-filed. The IRS will take up to 4 months to process the amended tax return. Wait until you have received the tax refund or the taxes owed have been paid and processed by the IRS before amending the tax return.

On the Tax Home web page when the Form 1040X for amending a 2019 tax return becomes available there will be a link - Amend (change) return
