Question

I've already filed and submitted. I'd like to reopen my taxes to do some "what-if" to decide about an amended return. How to I reopen to change some expenses?

I included mortgage and real estate taxes, but still used standard deduction.  My partner is now retired, so those expenses may affect whether she would benefit. I want to recalculate to decide about amending return.

If you used online TurboTax do NOT mess around and start changing the return that you filed.   You will make a a big mess of it and you will not be able to transfer it for your 2021 return next year.   Instead, create a "dummy" account for playing if you want to try out different scenarios.   The desktop software lends itself much better to this than online does.

Online is only good for one return per account. You can use the same email address for 5 accounts.

Or we can tell you how to switch to the Desktop program which can do multiple returns and has a What-If worksheet and other features over the Online version.
