what filing status did you use?  if you're filing separate returns, are married and didn't live apart for the last 6 months of 2021, each must use married filing separate filing status. with married filing separate, both must use the same method for deductions - either the standard deduction or itemized

you might have other items on your return such as credits that delay processing.

Pending simply means that your e-filed return is on its way and that the government hasn't accepted or rejected it yet. If you e-filed your return during some of the busiest times, it'll stay in Pending status until the IRS starts processing the backlog of returns.

If by any chance you claimed the earned income tax credit (EITC) or the child tax credit (CTC), which includes the advance, there is deliberate delays by the IRS.

Check this page the IRS specifically talks about the refund delay. If your return has not been accepted, it's normal this time of year due to the demand on the IRS systems.

Awesome tax expert @Mike9241 also provided possible reasons for delay.
