There is no fee for direct deposit so you must have paid to "e-file." Check the bank routing and account number info which is a common mistake if incorrect.

There is not an extra fee to get direct deposit of your refund. If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, there was a "refund processing fee" so that the third party bank could deduct your fees and then forward your refund to you. As stated above, maybe you gave incorrect banking information, which prevented you from getting a direct deposit. If your banking information is wrong, they send you a check.
