I owed new york State taxes from taxed from previous year how can I find out if this year's return covered that so I don't over pay them

You have to access your own account and/or print it for yourself using exactly the same account and user ID that you used when you prepared the return.

Many people have multiple TT accounts and forget how to access them. Log out of the account you are in now.

The fastest way to determine if you owe outstanding NYS tax is to create an Online Services for Individuals account. With an Individual account, you can pay a bill, respond to a department notice, sign up for refund notifications, and more.

In addition, if you itemize your deductions, make sure to input the correct amount of state taxes paid to New York in 2021 as they may be deductible on your Schedule A.
