In order to correct the return, you will need to file an amended return.

Please follow the instructions here to file the amended return. Please note that the amended returns cannot currently be filed, but this should be available in a few days.

you may not need to amend. The IRS is likely to catch this error and adjust accordingly without the need to amend

if you get the excess refund would you have to amend to pay it back.

@freeatlast0573

IRS is carefully reviewing all returns with an amount on Line 30.

You can be sure they will subtract it if it was already sent to you last year.
