If you accidentally paid your 2025 federal taxes twice, the Internal Revenue Service will most likely refund the overpayment automatically (unless you have other tax debt). So the simplest thing to do is just wait for them to issue you the overpayment, which will probably take 8-10 weeks.

If the overpayment hasn't been refunded or credited automatically after a reasonable period, you can call the IRS at 800-829-1040.
