Question

I made an additional tax payment to the IRS prior to Apr 15. How do I include those on my tax filing?

I had been waiting for an amended SSA1099 to file my 2025 taxes but also knew I was going to owe a few hundred dollars, so I made a direct payment to IRS electronically. Now I need to know how to indicate that payment for filing.

If you made a payment directly to the IRS online before filing (such as extension payments or additional estimated taxes), enter it in TurboTax under the Deductions & Credits section, specifically within Estimates and Other Taxes Paid. Choose "Other Income Taxes" or "Payments with Extension" to record the amount so it reflects on your final tax return.

See this help article for more information.

if you used the iRS website to make a direct payment, did you indicate it as a 2025 estimate or an extension

payment? Its entered on the tax payment page, which is under the deductions and credits tab, but be sure to put it on the correct line because various types of payments show on different lines on the 1040
