Once it is accepted you can’t change it. But you can amend it. Only amend after your return has been processed and any tax liability settled.

@stephaniemreynol - what status did you use and what status are you trying to change it to? Why are you changing it?

Since we are beyond April 15, there are some changes that cannot be made..... for example, you can not change from Married - FIling Joint to a different filing status.

No--you cannot stop an accepted e-file. As already stated, you are not permitted to switch from married filing jointly to married filing separately if that is the filing status you want to change. Or are you trying to change your filing status in some other way? No matter--- if your e-file was accepted, you have to wait for the return to be fully processed and receive your refund. Then if you need to make a change, you can file an amended return, which will take the IRS about six months to process.
