I had my federal taxes prepared by turbo tax and i want turbo tax to e-file them for me

my 2022 federal and state taxes were prepared and e-filed by turbo tax, now I need them to be sent to the IRS. I was advised by a live access person to contact turbo tax around the end of January to have them sent through Turbo Tax.

For most tax returns, the answer is no. Our e-filing window for non-corporate and non-partnership returns goes from January to mid-October of the calendar year that immediately follows the tax year.

For example, tax year 2022 returns could be e-filed from January 2023 through October 2023.

TurboTax cannot e-file your 2022 tax return. E-filing is permanently closed for 2022 returns (since October of 2023). The only way to file a 2022 tax return is by mail. You need to print it, sign and date it in ink, and mail it in.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
