Question

I filed my taxes a while ago and I got a letter from the IRS requesting my form 1095a. I already finished my federal amended return but it says No Refund or Amount Due $0

Does that mean that I'm going to get $0 as my return or it's just clarifying that I don't own anything else?

If you added the 1095-A and it produced the 8962 then those are the forms you are to fax/mail to the IRS.

If you used the amendment process (not required) to complete the 8962 then do not send the 1040X as the IRS did not ask for it ... however you can look at it to see if adding that form changed anything ...

Look at the form 1040X …

Column A should have the figures from the original return, Column C the corrected figures and Column B the differences between the other 2 which needs an explanation on page 2 of the form 1040X.

If you completed it correctly you will see an entry on either line 16 OR 18:

On line 16 should be the amount you paid with your original return.

On line 18 should be the amount of your original refund you received.

Then you will see your extra refund on line 22 OR  the new balance due you need to pay on line 20.
