Question

I am trying to file an amended tax return and when I got to the end it’s telling me I have to pay. Doesn’t say how much but I don’t understand what I’m paying anyway

My unemployment was not added right when I first filed. So now I gotta do an amended return. I got all the way through and now it’s telling me I gotta pay turbo tax. Like I already did the first time and it doesn’t say how much to pay.

The refund/tax due box at the top will show you how much additional tax you have to pay with your amended return.

You can also see the amount on Form 1040X, line 20 called Amount you owe.

Unemployment is taxable on your federal return. Adding unemployment benefits will probably cause you to owe tax.

If you had a refund coming with your original return, and the IRS accepted that, you will see get your original refund.

It is telling you to pay TurboTax because you accidentally upgraded or added a service while you were amending.  Go to Tax Tools...Tools....Fees.

It will show a list of what you are being asked to pay for.  You can remove MAX or LIve, but will need to call customer support for a downgrade code if you upgraded the software.
