When will I receive my refund taxes

The IRS issues most refunds in about 21 days, although some returns take more time to review.

To find out where your refund is, first check your e-file status. If it's been processed and accepted, you can begin to track your refund at the IRS Where's My Refund? site.

Did you file your amended return? I need to file mine too but turbo tax keeps changing the date. I seen on another forum someone got their refund in 5 weeks.

If you amend your return before receiving your refund, does all of your refund come as a check or just the difference?

Normally you shouldn't amend your return until you receive the original refund.   If you did already amend it, however, then if your original refund is approved as filed, and if there are no complications, you normally will still get the original refund by whatever method you originally selected.   Did you choose direct deposit?  For any return, there are some less-common circumstances where the IRS can choose to use a check even if direct deposit was selected, but that is not the usual situation.  The odds are that if the original refund is approved, you will still get it by whatever method you selected.  You can monitor it at the IRS "Where's My Refund" tool to see once released, how it's being sent:
    https://www.irs.gov/refunds

If you are due additional refund from the amended return, it will come as a check.  It can take the IRS up to 16 weeks to process an amended return.  Three weeks after mailing the amended return, you can monitor it with this tool:

A 1040X cannot be e-filed.  It must be printed and mailed.  It will take about 4 months for the IRS to process an amended return.  It is a good idea to use a mailing service that will track it, like UPS or certified mail, so you will know it was received.

Wait about 3 weeks from mailing and you can check the status of your amended return:

I filled my amended return for 2020 and sent my proves in April 2020 when the COVID outbreak started.I did not hear from IRS for 3months. I filled it again. The website says that it has been received but the status has been saying that it was accepted but I have not received my refund up to date. I also missed my second stimulus check for my dependant under the amended tax. What should I do, please?

The IRS estimates most taxpayers will receive their refund within 21 business days.

You can track your return by checking the Where's My Refund website located here

If you elected to have your fees deducted from your refund, the IRS will send your return to Santa Barbara Bank, where they will deduct the fees and then deposit any remaining refund into your account.

Probably not for a long time during the current crisis.  They are not processing mailed returns right now.

I had to have a professional file an amended return for me I have not received my stimulus check and the IRS keeps saying that there is no information on the status of my return. It's been 6 week's since it was faxed to the IRS.

@Chees "faxed to the IRS"   What did you fax?  Faxing is not a way to file a tax return.  You either e-file a tax return or you mail it in an envelope.  Do you mean a paid preparer sent in an amended return for you?  If a paid preparer helped you, what are you seeking from TurboTax?  And---did that preparer explain to you that it normally takes about 4 months for the IRS to process an amended tax return?  It is taking longer now, because right now the IRS is too busy processing tax returns and issuing stimulus checks in the middle of a pandemic to even open their mail.

My amended taxes were received by the IRS on Oct. 1, 2020, per verifying with the postal service  of delivery, and as of today Jan. 13, 2021, has no process information.  I am wondering who do I contact.

Due to the pandemic and limited staffing at the IRS the IRS is processing paper filed tax return in the order received.  Go to this IRS website for the status of an amended tax return - https://www.irs.gov/filing/wheres-my-amended-return

As stated on the IRS website -

    COVID-19 Mail Processing Delays

It’s taking us longer to process mailed documents including:

    • Paper tax returns, and
    • All tax return related correspondence.

We are processing all mail in the order we received it.

Do not file a second tax return or call the IRS.

Anything at the IRS that requires manual processing has taken quite long.   Many folks have been waiting 6-7 months so far just for their original returns to be processed.

And are you saying you have not been able to reach a live IRS agent?   If that's the case, see this:

This is anecdotal, but I called the IRS a few days ago and found that for me it was best to call just before closing time--about 6:55 PM and quickly go through the steps below.  I figured a lot of folks would not call that close to closing, and that if I was one of the last to get into the queue, they would finish off all the people who were in the queue at closing time.   And luckily, my hunch worked for me.  Still had to wait about 25 minutes.     Some users have said they managed to get in by phoning when the IRS first opened in the morning at 7 AM, but I assumed there would be a big rush to get in at that time.

    IRS:  800-829-1040 (7AM-7 PM local time) Monday-Friday

When calling the IRS do not choose the first choice re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.

    • First choose your language.  Then listen to each menu before making the selection.
    • Then press 2 for "personal income tax".
    • Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
    • Then press 3 "for all other questions."
    • Then press 2 "for all other questions."
    • It may then ask for your SSN, but do not enter it.  Just wait.    If it asks for SSN a second time, still do not enter it.
    • Then it will get "tired", and you'll get another menu.  Choose 2 for "personal".
    • Then in the next menu choose 4 for "all other inquiries", and it should transfer you to an agent but expect a long wait.
    • I usually use a speakerphone so I can work on something else while waiting.

If you have no luck reaching the IRS, or don't get satisfactory information, you can try contacting the IRS Taxpayer Advocate Service for your area.    They are especially prone to help if you have an economic hardship, or if there have been continued delays with lack of info from the IRS.    At the following IRS website, find the USA map and click on your state, and it will give you the number of your IRS Taxpayer Advocate.    If the Taxpayer Advocate can't/won't help you, ask them to transfer you to an an IRS agent.  A couple of users reported that at least for them, that was a backdoor route to the IRS.
