How far back will the IRS look for a direct deposit account? I havent had a refund since 2017- had to pay in 2018 and 2019

In the coming weeks, Treasury plans to develop a web-based portal for individuals to provide their banking information to the IRS online, so that individuals can receive payments immediately as opposed to checks in the mail. 

 

Please check the IRS Corona-virus website here for updates. This is where all updates will be updates as soon as information is available.  

 

The IRS will only look at your 2018 and 2019 returns if you do not update your banking information when the IRS web portal is available.
