How do I remove the sales tax paid on an expensive piece of art from the calculation of sales tax deduction?

In getting the deduction for state sales tax, I used: (1) the calculation based on the tax rate in this state; and (2) the tax that I paid on an expensive piece of art.  I notice that the allowed categories for (2) do NOT include art purchases.  Since I already added (1) and (2), I now need to back-out item (2) and return to the number based on (1).  How do I do this?
