With Turbotax Deluxe desktop 2023 running, when I try to load Turbotax Deluxe desktop 2022 I cannot do so. I am faced with a requester box stating that "TurboTax is already running under another account. Switch users and run TurboTax from the other account to continue Error: 70001" I have been running two year's returns side-by-side for years with o problem! This is annoying, to say the least, as comparing last year's return to this year's makes sense and is the only way to fill out the current forms!! What has TurboTax done??!!

Are you trying to launch TT2022 from the app itself or from a tax data file?  (Usually, if 2023 exists on your computer, opening a 2022 data file will open in 2023 for purposes of transferring, rather than the 2022 app).

Mac or PC (sounds like PC but I'm not sure).

Opened both from desktop icons. After this experience, I closed down both instances, and opened 2022 FIRST. I then ran 2023 and was able to view each years' respective file on separate monitors. Must just be some glitch in TurboTax's servers, as it appears that this is the first year they monitor which account is accessing their app. Glad that it finally did work as in the past, for this method is my SOP in tax prep!! Hope it does NOT happen again (fingers crossed)!!

This issue usually requires you to restart your computer.  Close the TurboTax program and then restart the PC.

See if the problem persists.

Open the earlier one first (2022) and then the latest one (2023)…
