Hello, i entered the wrong amount for my outstanding mortgage principal. it is off by about $1,500. is this something that must be amended?

Not likely. This field doesn't mean a thing, unless your mortgage principal is at or above 1 million dollars.
If it is, the mortgage interest deduction may be limited, and this field helps figure that out.
