    Good question.

I don't know but would assume yes, since TurboTax has always supported amending for the 3 year statute of limitations for getting a refund, but I have not seen anything official about it.

AFAIK the IRS will allow e-file of 2019 (and later) amended returns indefinitely.

FYI .... the  IRS itself does a complete  efile shut down for all returns from early December until mid January every year to make the switch to the tax year.  So if you don't get it filed before that time frame you will have to wait until the efile system is open again.  You have 3 years to amend  AND  it takes 4 months or more to process an amended return that is paper filed  AND  you should not file an amended return until the original return has fully processed ....  so each taxpayer will need to decide on the best plan for their circumstance.

Of course since efiling an amended return is new for everyone it is unknown if TT will have that option available  when using the downloaded version and no instructions have been posted as of yet ... so this is a wait and see.

This is all that has been posted so far:

Step 4: Submit your amended return

Send the IRS your amended return. Beginning with the 2019 tax year, you can e-file federal amended returns. For tax years prior to 2019, federal amended returns must be filed by mailing in a paper return. Before mailing your return to the IRS, double check that you've attached all necessary forms and supporting documents. In the event your amendment results in a higher tax bill, you should include the additional tax payment with the return. By making a payment, you can minimize the amount of interest and penalties you may be subject to since technically, you are making a late payment of tax. It takes the IRS eight to twelve weeks to process your amendment, so give it some time before you contact them regarding your

    amended return.
