Do I need to wait to receive my state tax in the mail or online before filing my taxes? Or is the W-2 all I need?

I've been using turbotax for the past 8 years but I always forget If im required to wait for my state and local tax refund or if i dont need to wait and just file my taxes with the w-2

if you did not itemize, then your state refund does not matter.

for best results file in mid - February, not on opening day of Jan 23.

The issues are:

Do you only have a W-2.
Are there other sources of income that you may have had.
- changed jobs during the year?
- Sold any investments including cryptocurrency?
- Got any bank interest?
- Any other?
Are you waiting for a 1099-G for your state refund from 2020?
- As fanfare said, you will only need this if you itemize your deductions in 2022.
It may be wise to wait a couple of weeks to confirm that no other tax documents are coming in.
