You don't need to. Federal tax refunds are not income and federal tax paid is not a deduction.

It is state income tax that can be deductible (if you itemize) and state tax refunds that may be taxable for federal income tax purposes.

The only time it could matter is if it changed the amount of a refund applied to the next year taxes.
