Can I itemize medical deductions on my TurboTax state return if I did not itemize them on my TurboTax federal return?

I am completing on return in on-line form and would like to file federal return tonight to get $30. Discount from TurboTax but don’t have time to populate Federal Return with all medical expenses
. I will utilize standard deduction on Federal return.

Even if you do not qualify for the Federal itemized deduction you might for certain states, but it all comes from the Federal interview for deductions.

by the way, if you know your total for medical expenses, then enter the total. The IRS does not get the detail even if you enter them. it's TurboTaxes way to remind you of various categories but is definitely not required.
