If you've received a T-1099 from a college/university you can amend your taxes to include it. Turbo Tax has a great amendment software. I used it for the education credit 3 years ago.

Your 1098-T maybe listed on your school's website on your student portal page. If not, contact your school registrar’s office to obtain information regarding your 1098-T (Tuition Statement). I have included additional instructions on how to amend your return below.

If you have already e-filed or mailed the return and the IRS has accepted your return you need to wait until you have received your refund to file an amendment and add additional information. You will need to send in any forms that caused the need for an amendment (Original 1040 Form, new 1040X Form and 1098-T). Print, sign and mail your forms to the IRS.

NOTE: As stated above, your 1098-T (Tuition Statement) maybe listed on your school's website on your student portal page. If not, contact your school registrar’s office to obtain information regarding your 1098-T (Tuition Statement).
