Are TurboTax returns more scrutinized

I filed well over 3 weeks ago electronically with TurboTax and have not received my refund. On the plus side the latest tax law that went into effect with unemployment that works in my favor probably will get me some more of a refund.

Still my dad still pays someone to do his taxes just filed and a week later his refund showed in his account.

I look everyday I still haven't seen my refund....

No.  The IRS does not process First In First Out.  Perhaps your Dad had a very simple return, or he got a Refund Advance.

The IRS is seriously backlogged due to all the extra stimulus filings, as well as a few million unprocessed 2019 returns left over from the COVID shutdown  Lots of other folks are still waiting, so please continue to be patient.  Also see:

I have a complex return (NO EIC OR CTC OR DCC) but nothing on it affected by the new tax law. I e-filed and got my refund well within 2 weeks.  the IRS is working to do the refund process for those that filed and their returns are affected by the ARP tax law, like yours, which is the likely reason for the delay.

check your refund status on the IRS website

I did check the website which says it's not complete.

My concern is I usually file my federal first since my state and daughters dependent returns could be impacted by it. Once I receive my fed refund I know everything's good to go and I mail those other ones in. Have the states extended filing deadlines to May 15th or just the federal government?

I understand Federal submission of tax returns has been extended to May 15th. Does anyone know if the supplies to the states as well?
