Question

2019 tax return is non-filling? (tho i mailed in)

I filled my taxes for 2019 on July 5 2020. In the envelope, I have both 2018 and 2019 papers since I missed the 2018 ones.  I've been checking the IRS transcript site since then, but up till now, my 2018 tax return is processed, but my 2019 one is non-filling.

I honestly don't know what to do with this since you can't get on the line with anyone if you call the 1040 IRS number... and since 2019 record is none, how can I fill the 2020 and get my stimulus check?

Should I mail my 2019 tax again?

Good news is I don't think I owe any tax tho. I applied my 2018 tax refund to 2019 and that was enough.

First, you can efile 2020 and use 0 (zero) as the 2019 AGI.

But Yikes!  Not a good idea to use a single envelope. The IRS has said this:

COVID-19 Mail Processing Delays

It’s taking us longer to process mailed documents including:

  • Paper tax returns, and
  • All tax return related correspondence.
  • We are processing all mail in the order we received it.
  • Do not file a second tax return or call the IRS.

But in your case, you might mail 2019 again, since it could have been discarded at the IRS. Also see:
