On turbo tax it is saying my tax refund is $1,246.65 but I recieved a notice of assessment claiming I owe $31.89. I am 21 and am filing self employment income for the second time with a similar result to last year. I have also recieved no reimbursement for my attempts at claiming my business expenses and overall I'm just very confused and almost certain this is incorrect. I make under 20k a year and I even spent the last year in university. How does it make sense that I recieved over $1000 when I was 19, working and not in school, last year I recieved $200 ish and this year despite making *less* than I did the previous year, now owe money?

You will need to verify your notice of assessment to see where the changes were made. When you see those changes on the NOA, please let us know, and we can assist from there.
