Tax Year Prior to 2020: Health insurance

If I pay for health care through my college and they take money from my tuition can I use that for my TAX? for health care? No not be fined? ... I’ve been using that health care since I’ve moved to California & just now found out that I needed to have health insurance through the state to not be fined. So now I’m doomed or can I just us my schools healrh Insurance since I pay taxes on it

Tax Year Prior to 2020: Health insurance

Rest assured, your health insurance does not need to be purchased through the state for it to qualify.  If you have actual health insurance, and not a payment or discount plan, you should be covered.  Please see this FAQ called What counts as health insurance for my 2018 tax return?  for more details.
