1099 Misc Split

I have won a Southwest Airline free vacation for a weekend for 6 people.

And I receive a 1099 Misc for the whole amount.

Any suggestion ?

Did you win one vacation (and it just includes 6 people) or did 6 people participate and won separately? 

If the form is, in fact, incorrect, my first recommendation is that you contact Southwest Airlines and ask for a corrected one, with just your amount. Otherwise, report the whole amount, as it appears on the form, but make an adjustment for the amount that should not be listed on the form;  here are the steps:

1. Federal
2. Less Common Income
3. Select Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C
4. Select Other Reportable Income, enter short description and a negative amount for the adjustment
