My child's other parent gave me $3000 for child's legal expenses. is that taxable income?

My child's other parent gave me $3000 to reimburse me for part of the child's legal expenses.  is that taxable income?  It was not formal child support, but our informal sharing of expenses.

No. You can consider the $3K a gift. Gift's of less than $14K in any one tax year are not taxable or reportable on any tax return.
