Link to IRS publication 550 goes to the 2016 publication; not the 2017 version.

From TurboTax help. Home & Small Business 2017, Mac, CD.

The link in the app goes here:

https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tips/irs-tax-forms/irs-publications/L333tQw7o

... and after clicking the 550 publication, that is when it goes to the 2016 publication.

You are correct that it goes to 2016 IRS publication. That is because that is the latest version the IRS has listed.

You'll notice here on the IRS's website IRS's Prior Year Publication 550 that 2016 is listed as their most recent of that specific publication. They have not made any further revisions since that 2016 version.

Thanks for explaining that.

I followed the link from TurboTax to the TurboTax web page, clicked on the publication link, then was taken directly to the publication. I.e., I would expect that TurboTax keeps the links up to date—which turned out to be true for this publication, but in that TurboTax web table, an extra column labeled something like: "Most recent IRS publication is for a prior tax year" (or some such), and then a check mark in the row for any publication that fits that criteria, might reduce confusion. My 2¢ 🙂

You are most welcome and I'll definitely pass along that suggestion!

TurboTax still doesn't have it together.

I clicked on the link for IRS Pub 590B and was brought to this site: https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tips/irs-tax-forms/irs-publications/L333tQw7o

There was no 590B listed, only 590, which was for tax year 2013!

Makes you wonder how up to date their tax forms are that we rely on. It's horrible they don't provide better information.

The link in the answer provided is out of date since the answer was for a different tax year.

If you want the IRS Publication 590-B for 2019 then go this website - https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p590b.pdf
