Federal Form 1098-C
TurboTax online is requiring odometer mileage for a boat donation. The IRS only requires this for automobiles. I donated a sailboat that does not have an odometer. I cannot complete my e-file without filling in this field. Any suggestions for filling out this box. The IRS example form has this blank for a boat. Thanks is advance for your help,
MIke

Enter "999999" as the odometer mileage (or the reading on the Hobbs meter, if installed).
(A Hobbs meter records the number of hours the engines have operated).
Boats and airplanes don't have odometers, so your entry in Box 2a of the Form 1099-C won't affect anything on your tax return.

No, it would not take a Zero (0), however I found if you enter six number nines (999999). It will work and the IRS will ignore this field for boat or plane donations.
