My hard drive crashed, now repaired. Before I install TT 2018, I would like to install previous years software...the reason is because a few years back a similar situation occurred and when I installed TT, it did not pick up the previous year info, I assume because I did not restore previous year software. I don't want this to happen again!
The TT files from prior years are in my TT folder. Common sense tells me that is all I need, but very paranoid to install TT 2018 until I'm certain. Has anyone had a similar experience or have the answer on how to proceed? I have the CD's for 2018 and previous years as well. Appreciate any guidance.

each year's software 'stands on its own'
I have the last 4-5 years loaded on my harddrive and available should I need to review it. .
How do I transfer my 2014 tax information from my files into turbotax .
Do I have to re-enter all the information if a computer crashes
If you used the Desktop program you need that year's tax data file ending in .tax2014, .tax2015, .tax2016 etc. to open in the installed program. Or you might have saved and backup the pdf files? Then you don't need the program installed to view the pdf.
You only need the .tax2018 file to transfer into 2019. Don't know what you have and what you are looking for.
