step-father entered wrong marriage status for an expatriate

My wife is a Japanese citizen. Because I'm located in Japan, I had to have my step-father pay for my turbotax filing. When going through the submission procedure, he change my status to "Separated" to complete the tax submission process.

My tax liability did not change. Do I need to amend my tax forms, and how do I do that to show that my wife is Japanese, without a SSN?

Could you please clarify, if your filing status was married filing separately or single?
